Moyes needing more players to push for Europe

DAVID MOYES wants to push his Everton side into Europe, but he believes that goal is “unrealistic” unless he gets more players.

The Blues secured a surprise 1-0 win at Premier League title challengers Aston Villa on Sunday, who had won their previous 11 home games in all competitions.

It was a stunning victory achieved with a depleted team - seven senior players were unavailable.

That has been a theme of the Christmas and new year period for Everton.

And while Moyes has still managed to produce good results despite the circumstances - the victory at Villa Park followed an impressive win at Nottingham Forest at the end of 2025 - it has also undermined top-half and FA Cup ambitions, with the Blues failing to win any of three important home matches at the start of January.
