FAMILY TELL OF SHOCK AND STRUGGLE AFTER HORROR ACCIDENT FOR 'FIT AND HEALTHY' DAD ON TRYFAN
A “FIT and healthy” father has been left paralysed after losing consciousness and falling from a mountain in Eryri (Snowdonia).
Experienced mountaineer Dave Palmer, 64, had been ascending Tryfan with a group of hikers, including his wife Lindsey, 59, on April 26, when he fell backwards down the mountain.
The father-of-two from Glossop was airlifted to Aintree Hospital, where his family, who were left traumatised, were informed that he was paralysed from the chest down.
Three months on, Dave remains in hospital, fighting to recover from his injuries.
His 26-year-old daughter, Tessa Palmer, revealed that her father had been training for an expedition in Peru at the time of the accident.
She explained: "My dad is a keen mountaineer, he's an alpine climber and had planned an expedition in Peru in May.
"He'd put together a team for the expedition and as part of their team building they'd gone to Wales for a hike in April.
