Mo may not get result he wants from his outburst

FOR virtually all of his 420 games as a Liverpool player, Mohamed Salah has politely rejected the chance to speak to the media after the final whistle has sounded.

- By PAUL GORST

Just three times, prior to Saturday's explosive offering, has he taken time to speak to the press.

In 2018, he made good on a promise after he reached the 40-goal landmark in his first season. In 2019, after he had become a Champions League winner, he also spoke.

And 13 months ago, outside St Mary's, Salah revealed to reporters that he was “more out than in” regarding a new contract.

So when the 33-year-old said he would be back to speak after having sat on the bench for the entirety of Saturday's 3-3 draw at Leeds United, it was clear the third highest goalscorer in Anfield history had something he wanted to get off his chest.

What followed was genuinely extraordinary. The searing honesty across a near seven-and-a-half-minute interview was remarkable.
