Jones joins fight to save Ospreys

Supporters of the Swansea-based side made their feelings clear last Friday at the same venue, with fans holding up their phones on the 11th minute as a protest against owners YL1 and the Welsh Rugby Union.

Earlier this month it was confirmed the WRU had chosen Y11 as their preferred bidder to take over rivals Cardiff Rugby, much to the chagrin of fans in the Welsh capital and Swansea.

Now, the official supporters’ group are planning another demonstration, this time ahead of their Welsh derby date with the Men of Gwent in Bridgend on Saturday evening.

“SUPPORTERS ASSEMBLE,’ began the post on X.

“Bring your voices….

Bring your flags….

“Let’s show everyone what Ospreys mean to YOU!

“We're encouraging all supporters to meet by the JPR mural at the Brewery Field on Saturday at 6pm for a respectful protest.”

On Tuesday evening, a group of former Ospreys players released a statement calling on the WRU to halt their proposals and rethink their plans to cut a club.

Meanwhile, Wales and Ospreys legend Alun Wyn Jones has joined the fight to save his former club, throwing his support behind the bid by former players to make the Welsh Rugby Union change its mind on cutting a region.
