Haven defends itself after teens stopped from checking-in and escorted off park site

A HOLIDAY park has defended itself after criticism that a group of teens were not allowed to book in and were then escorted from the site.
The family of Leah Ankers are furious that her and her six friends were not able to checkin at Haven’s Hafan y Mor site near Pwllheli.
They travelled to the park by taxi from Wrexham on November 28 for a break to celebrate Leah's 18th birthday, with Leah paying for the stay and acting as lead booker.
They said that on the day of the holiday Haven sent an email cancelling the holiday due to a failed identity check. The family thought this was due to an error made with the home address. They then rebooked the holiday - saying the price had risen at this point by over £300.
On arrival at Hafan y Mor Leah was told the new booking had also been cancelled due to her not being able to complete the identity check.
They say Haven wanted to see her bank card but she didn’t have it as she uses her phone for payments. The family say she had her birth certificate.
They say they then escorted the group of friends off the site with security. The family are furious - claiming it was getting dark at this point and no care was shown for their safety.
In response Haven said it carries out automatic identification checks on all those making a booking. It has a policy of the lead booker having to be 21 or older.
