Going to WHAR to win the battle

THIS summer's transfer window promises to be eventful for Manchester United.
With just two games left to play, United’s direction of travel in this summer's window could be dictated by the outcome of Wednesday night's Europa League final against Tottenham Hotspur in Bilbao.
Coming out on top at the San Mames Stadium will secure Champions League qualification for the Reds, meaning they will be much more attractive to prospective signings.
Champions League qualification will also boost their transfer budget, offering Ruben Amorim more leverage to get his desired targets through the door.
United plan to strengthen their squad this summer, meaning exits and arrivals are likely across various areas, and the midfield department is no exception.
With that said, here's a look at what deals United should be striving to complete to freshen up their midfield options.
OUTGOINGS
Following United’s transition to a 3-4-2-1 system under Amorim last November, full-backs who had previously played in a back four have had to adjust.
Two wing-backs flank two central midfielders in Amorim’s preferred shape, meaning they are expected to attack just as much they are expected to get back and assist the three centre-backs.
Of United's current pool of wing-backs, Tyrell Malacia, who is currently out on loan at PSV Eindhoven, is the only one the Reds should be actively striving to offload this summer.
His eight appearances under Amorim after returning from a lengthy spell on the sidelines quickly proved that he is not effective enough as a wing-back.
