Front-line NHS staff are great, but I'm still angered by failings

IT'S not very often that I write in anger about events which have adversely impacted on those nearest and dearest to me, but last week something happened that was extremely distressing to one of them.

In recent years this person has battled on despite a long-term chronic health condition, and ongoing treatment for a form of blood cancer, as well as having survived two other cancers.

They have never married, and have lived alone and very independently for more than 30 years.

However, earlier this year they were hospitalised three times over a four month period, with the end result that they're now too frail to continue to live at home.

Throughout this very traumatic time, I have done all I can to help and support them, and with their consent, have taken over responsibility for managing their affairs as they no longer have the mental and physical strength to do so.
