Ex-WRU man keen to see rugby league in Wrexham

FORMER Welsh Rugby Union chief David Moffett says he wants to hold talks with Ryan Reynolds as he hopes to launch a brand-new elite rugby league team in Wrexham.
Moffett, who also served as chief executive of Australia’s NRL between 1999 and 2001, revealed he had already been close to assembling a consortium to make a formal bid, but paused the project amid uncertainty over the future of the sport in the UK.
With the REL and NRL currently locked in discussions over a potential collaboration, the 78-year-old believes the moment may soon arrive to revive the plan.
“I would still have an ambition to do that because I’ve got a belief in rugby league,” Moffett told rugbyleaguehub.com.
“But it would only be on the basis of the NRL having some involvement in the Super League and I’m not quite sure what it looks like.”
