Evans misses out on WRC crown as Ogier matches Loeb tally

ELFYN Evans was denied a first World Rally Championship (WRC) crown after a controversial Rally Saudi Arabia.

The 36-year-old, now a five-time runner-up, had taken a three-point championship lead into the final round of the season but lost out as Sebastien Ogier claimed a record-equalling ninth title.

Ogier finished the race in third place, collecting nine bonus points which meant he finished four ahead of Toyota teammate Evans.
