Driver arrested after death of 'beloved grandad' on bypass

A MAN has been arrested in connection with the death of a “beloved grandfather” who was hit by a van in Gwynedd.

Geraint Jones died after being struck by a van on the A487 Caernarfon bypass near Bontnewydd at around 8.30pm on Sunday.

The road was shut in both directions while emergency services worked at the scene, however Mr Jones, 64, was pronounced dead at the scene.

North Wales Police have now confirmed a man has been arrested following the incident.
