Concerns over fires, dangerous dens and DIY bike tracks at park

DIY bike tracks, dangerous dens and fires being lit at a popular North Wales park, is sparking concerns.

Police have launched an investigation into the incidents at Maes Y Pant, in Gresford and Marford, near Wrexham, which have also seen a badger sett damaged.

The park is a favourite spot for dog walkers and people looking to take a relaxing stroll, but recent events have seen the police called in and the fire service who "arrived just in time to prevent a much more major problem," following a recent blaze set.

A statement on the Maes y Pant Facebook page said: "We urge everyone, please, please, please don't light fires in Maes y Pant especially not in this dry spell. We're grateful to the alert dog walkers who smelled smoke this evening and acted.

"The fire brigade were clear that they arrived just in time to prevent a much more major problem.
