Cheeky Jack Russell gets Royal thumbs-up after raising alarm for owner

A MISCHIEVOUS Jack Russell pup astonished healthcare staff by raising the alarm for her stricken owner. Pensioner Catherine Anderson had been knocked unconscious at her Wrexham home with little prospect of help as she lives alone.

She wears a pendant alarm, which can be activated in an emergency to alert advisors in Llanelli, Carmarthen-shire.

But after a shower, the 71-year-old had left the pendant on her bed before dozing off in the living room.

What happened next left everyone scratching their heads. Seeing Catherine’s alarm activated, and hearing barking on the phone, staff at Delta Wellbeing staff dispatched NHS paramedics after they failed to reach anyone at the address.

They arrived to find Catherine still unconscious with a suspected skull fracture. At her side was Chloe, a 12-week-old puppy wagging her tail furiously. As far as anyone knows, she must have dashed into the bedroom and pressed the button on her owner's pendant alarm. Remarkably, the pair had only been together two days.

Chloe's incredible intervention has now won applause from a high-profile fan of Jack Russell terriers. Queen Camilla this week wrote to Catherine saying her puppy was a “little star” HRH also admitted her own pup wasn’t quite what she expected.
