...whose son refused school at 10

THOUGH it had probably been brewing for years, my family’s world turned upside-down in February.

After a half-term holiday to Italy, our youngest son, 10, decided he was simply no longer going to school.

“It makes me feel sick... I can't”, he sobbed when we tried to get him dressed and out the door as he had done for many years.

He huddled into a ball underneath his duvet, and refused to come out.
