World warns Israel taking over Gaza City means more misery

ISRAEL'S plan to seize control of Gaza City was yesterday condemned by the United Nations Security Council.

A rare emergency meeting was held after Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu said his military would take over the city, then the entire Strip.

UN Assistant Secretary Miroslav Jenca told the UNSC summit: "If these plans are implemented, they will likely trigger another calamity in Gaza, reverberating across the region and causing further forced displacement, killings, and destruction."
