Mystery over £5m will of farmer who shot burglar

MOURNERS will file into the crematorium for the funeral of Tony Martin today not knowing who among them will inherit his estate, said to be worth up to £5million.

The farmer, who spent three years in jail after shooting dead a burglar at his home in 1999, leaves an estate which includes the now-notorious Bleak House farm, the land around it, property in Australia, as well as his cars.

The will is yet to be read following 80-year-old Martin's death from the effects of a stroke earlier this month at his cottage near Wisbech, Cambs.

imageHe had no partner or children but his estranged brother, long-term housekeeper as well as nieces and cousins are all expected to be present at today's funeral in King's Lynn, Norfolk, and they may be beneficiaries of his will.

A source close to the family told the Mirror: "No one knows where Tony's money will end up.

"His estate is worth around £4m to £5m and no one knows where money from Bleak House and all the land he owned is going. He was a very frugal man, not interested in money.
