Labour set to launch crime blitz on cities

LABOUR'S policing minister last night pledged officers will be "present, visible and relentless" in a winter crime blitz.

Sarah Jones said forces will be using sophisticated mapping to identify knife crime hotspots.

Today, the government launches its Winter of Action plan in hundreds of town and city centres, a move Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood has branded a "crime-fighting blitz".
