Veteran displays his medals after finally overcoming trauma

AN Army veteran has taken his medals out of a drawer for the first time in 30 years and can finally look at them without being overwhelmed by trauma.

Warren Howell, 51, says going on the Royal British Legion's “battle back” course helped him beat his demons.

He reveals several comrades committed suicide over horrors seen in Bosnia – and he tried to take his life, too.

Now, thanks to the RBL, he has put his medals and military pictures on a wall at his home in Warrington, Cheshire.

Warren says: “Healing takes time. I couldn't bear to look at the reminders but when I finally put those pictures up, I felt a sense of pride.”
