A&E doc slams myopic Reform plan to ditch immigration status

AN American A&E doctor who has trained and worked in the UK for a decade is appalled by Nigel Farage's plan to scrap indefinite leave to remain.

Dr Jinnie Shin, 44, moved to the UK in 2015 to work in the NHS following a career change from biomedical science to medicine.

She qualified as a doctor in 2019 and worked through the pandemic in the NHS.

Dr Shin, who comes from Boston, Massachusetts, has a tier 2 skilled worker visa and aims to apply for indefinite leave to remain within the next year.

Mr Farage announced on Monday that if Reform was elected he would scrap ILR.

This would not only remove the main route to citizenship for migrants but would also put hundreds of thousands of people legally settled in the UK at risk.
