Friends disowned me after I told them about pal's 'affair'

I'm a woman aged 27 and my entire friendship group has turned on me after I shared some information about one of our friends.

Someone I trust told me this friend had been seeing a married guy, so I told a few people from the group and this information spread to more people.

This friend confronted me and was very angry, saying it wasn't true and that she knew this guy as a friend and there was nothing else to it.

That wasn't what I'd heard - I'd been told they'd been out for intimate dinners and were hanging out all the time.

I don't know what or who to believe any more, but my entire friendship group has backed this friend and they've frozen me out for spreading gossip and making judgments when I didn't know the facts for sure.
