UK & Ireland's Euro 28 bid a cert after Turkey pulls out

The four UK nations and the Republic of Ireland will be confirmed as the Euro 2028 winner on Tuesday.

Turkey – the only other nation bidding to host the football tournament – pulled out yesterday.

It means the bulk of the matches will be played in England for the first time since the 1996 competition, when the iconic “Football’s Coming Home” anthem was launched.

England lost the semi-final to Germany on penalties, when Gareth Southgate, who is now the England manager, missed the final kick.

Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Ireland will also be delighted to be hosting.

Preparations will begin for matches in Cardiff, Glasgow, Belfast and Dublin once the decision is rubberstamped next week.
