- BY FRANCES MILLAR

CODEBREAKER Ruth Bourne has died aged 98, a veterans charity has said.

The Second World War hero worked at Bletchley Park as an operator and checker of the Bombe machine - a device created by Alan Turing and his team to crack Germany's Enigma code.

After joining the Women's Royal Naval Service at 18, Ruth was chosen to work at the site in Bucks. In 2018, she was awarded the Legion d'honneur - France's highest honour.
