CLOUGH'S PICASSO

BRIAN Clough was not known for giving many compliments, so when he called his flying winger John Robertson a "Picasso of the game" it meant something.

Scotland star Robertson, who has died aged 72, admitted that he longed for any sign of approval from the legendary Nottingham Forest manager. He wrote in 2012: "When I was the recipient I could have done cartwheels."

He became one of the stars of the Clough era, a double European Cup winner.

Forest fans voted him their favourite player of all-time. The club said yesterday: "We are heartbroken to announce the passing of a Forest legend and dear friend.
