PLEDGE ON PRICES TO FIGHT RIVALS

THE boss of Asda has pledged to beat rivals in shielding its shoppers from higher prices.
Food price inflation has reached 5% nationally, with warnings of worse to come.
But Asda executive chairman Allan Leighton insisted its own prices were rising “significantly” less than that.
