Hard-hitting Halambage ready for T20 call-up?

Colombo Cricket Club (CCC) led by former Sri Lanka T20 captain Wanindu Hasaranga clinched the Major Club T20 Championship when they defeated Panadura Sports Club by six wickets in the final at CCC grounds on Sunday.

Despite the results going against the visitors, the Sri Lankan cricket fraternity has been excited by the emergence of hard-hitting opening batsman Vishen Halambage. The right-hander has been a lone warrior for Panadura smashing big scores consistently throughout the tournament eventually ending up with 356 runs at an average of just under 40.

While Sri Lanka has players such as Kusal Mendis, Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Perera who have performed at a higher level, one of the key attributes in Halambage’s batting is his fearless nature in taking on the bowlers.
