Lionesses on SPOTY list
THE six contenders for this year’s Sports Personality of the Year were unveiled yesterday and included two of England’s heroic Lonesses.
However, Rory Mcllroy is the bookies’ favourite. The golfer, 36, from Northern Ireland, has come close to winning SPOTY before, but this year finally completed a grand slam of all four major championships.
And at the Ryder Cup, he endured a hostile crowd to help Europe win in the US for the first time since 2012.
