GABRIEL INSISTS ARSENAL WILL END BARREN RUN

- Nick Callow

We're ready to hit new heights this season

GABRIEL MAGALHAES could have cashed in.

Many would have been tempted when Saudi riches came calling but Arsenal’s ‘King of Brazil’ defensive rock did not think twice.

“I didn’t hear anything personally,” Gabriel said on the opening day of the club’s preseason tour of Asia.

“People like to say things on the internet. I’m focused on Arsenal, that’s why I signed the contract I did.”

The centre-back, 27, has just penned a new five-year deal, committing his prime years to the Gunners.

And with 210 appearances already under his belt since arriving from Lille in 2020, he is ready to double down.

“I’ve seen how much the club has grown,” Gabriel said. “I really believe this season will be different. We’ve let a couple of titles slip through our fingers but now we're ready to reach new heights.”
