Body pulled from water as deadly Storm Babet barrels in

A BODY was pulled from a stream yesterday as Storm Babet led to a red "serious risk to life warning".

The 57-year-old woman's remains were recovered from the Water of Lee in Glen Eskin, Angus, as galeforce winds and torrential rain caused chaos in north-east Scotland.

Homes, schools and businesses were evacuated as the storm hit.

Last night fire crews and the coastguard last night began evacuating residents from Brechin in Angus.

Residents in over 400 homes in the area had been urged to evacuate 360 in Brechin alone.
