Veteran of D-Day dies at age 101

A FORMER Royal Marine who provided covering fire for Allied troops landing in Normandy on D-Day has died aged 101.

With Queen Camilla at Buckingham Palace last June and as a young Royal Marine

Francis “Jim” Grant manned one of two antiaircraft guns fitted to his Landing Craft Flak on Sword Beach on June 6, 1944.

His death was announced by the Stowmarket Royal Naval Association Branch in Suffolk, of which he was president.
