Student sniper, 24, murdered 14 victims including his father before being eliminated', police say

A STUDENT gunman killed 14 people, including his father, in a mass shooting in the Czech Republic's capital.

Christmas shoppers and tourists, British visitors among them, fled for their lives as the lone shooter opened fire at Prague's Charles University yesterday afternoon.

Terrified crowds ran across top tourist site Charles Bridge as shots rained behind them.

Nine people were critically hurt. About 20 had lesser injuries.

Local reports named the killer as history student David Kozak, 24.

Police later linked the gunman to the murders of two people in a forest near Prague last week.

An image shared online appeared to show the shooter standing on top of a faculty building in Jan Palach Square, in Prague's historic Old Town, dressed in black, brandishing a rifle.
