Tunnel closure causes Heathrow queue chaos

AIR travellers missed flights yesterday after a technical fault closed the main tunnel from the M4 to two Heathrow terminals.

The blockage began early and lasted until shortly before 11.30am, causing gridlock on approach roads.

Inside the airport, crowds built rapidly as passengers faced delays at check-in and security.

Airport staff were deployed to manage queues, but the volume of travellers led to a buildup in public areas of Terminals Two and Three.

Some passengers waited over an hour to reach check-ins, while others missed flights due to the delays.
