Trump: I hope Putin is going to be good, if he's not, that's going to be a rough situation

US offers air support but no troops ahead of peace talks

DONALD Trump has warned Vladimir Putin to “be good” when he holds direct talks with Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky after the White House claimed the Russian tyrant had agreed to the summit.

The Kremlin had not confirmed it was on board last night.

But White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed Mr Trump was pressing for “direct diplomacy” between the two leaders.

Asked whether Putin has promised the US President he will attend the bilateral talks, she said: “He has.”

Speaking about the expected meeting, Mr Trump told Fox News: “I hope President Putin is going to be good and if he’s not, that’s going to be a rough situation. And I hope that President Zelensky will do what he has to do. He has to show some flexibility.”
