Train union hardman Lynch quits

FIREBRAND union leader Mick Lynch announced his retirement yesterday after four years of misery for train passengers.

His departure as the hard-Left chief of the Rail, Maritime and Transport union was welcomed by many, who said they hoped his successor would do "less damage" to the country.

But Mr Lynch, 63, said he felt "immensely proud" of his more than three decades of service to the RMT. Under his leadership, which began in 2021, it ushered in the biggest rail and tube worker strikes since 1989.
