FINANCIAL turmoil battering the social care sector will see hundreds of organisations collapse, the boss of one charity has predicted.

The Wilf Ward Family Trust is one of many outfits providing around-the-clock care to those people who are unable to look after themselves. It supports individuals with learning disabilities, profound needs and challenging behaviours.

The North Yorkshire charity's chief executive Paul McCay calculates that changes to national insurance payments and wage rises announced in the recent Budget will cost it £1.4million next year.
