HANDRE POLLARD says South Africa are braced for a backlash four years in the making from a "ruthless" England.

The World Cup winner knows Steve Borthwick well from their time together at Leicester and is clear the England head coach will have his underdog team baring their teeth in Saturday's semi-final.

"They will be ruthless, they will take the intensity and physicality to a whole new level," said the flyhalf, man of the match against England in the 2019 final.

"You could see on their faces four years ago the disappointment. I have been part of a squad that has been knocked out in the semi-final of a World Cup [in 2015] and it sits with you the rest of your life.
