A BRITISH stem cell donor hugs the American teenager whose life he saved five years ago.

Dan Lewis-Dayle, 45, from Stoke, shared an emotional embrace with Payton Granberry, 17, in Texas, watched by her parents Brandon and Steph.

Payton was diagnosed with a rare blood disorder called aplastic anaemia aged 12.

Dan's stem cells were used to re-set her immune system. The student has been in remission since the transplant.
