Supermarket prices 4.7% higher than a year ago

SHOPPERS are paying 4.7% more for groceries than a year ago after inflation hit its highest level since last March.
The figure is up from 4.1% last month, according to data from analysts Kantar. Overall the amount sold fell by 0.4% over the past four weeks, the first year-on-year decline this year.
Kantar suggested this could in part be due to changing health priorities — including the growing use of fat jabs.
