Baroness Casey hit out at care

A POSTCODE lottery for social care leaves families waiting between one and 297 days for help, says research.

The average wait for a package of in-home support is 29 days, according to freedom of information replies from 175 local authorities in England.

Polling shows almost three in four people are worried about needing social care ~ that rises to 85% among those with experience of the system.

Dr Devan Moodley, boss of healthtech firm Health Connect Global which ordered the research, said the findings “reveal something uncomfortable, which is that the more people see of our care system, the more they fear needing it themselves.
