Secret Lowry's artworks set to make £1million

A TREASURE trove of paintings by a man dubbed the Secret Lowry is expected to sell for £1million.

Eric Tucker, a boxer and gravedigger, hid his life’s work depicting northern working-class settings. Even his family had no idea of his talent.

The work, which has been compared with the “naive art” of Manchester's LS Lowry, was not discovered until after his death at the age of 86 in 2018.

Relatives uncovered nearly 500 paintings and sketches at his house in Warrington, Cheshire, with some kept in compostable bags inside an old air raid shelter in the garden.

So far the family have sold paintings for more than £750,000 at two previous London exhibitions.
