School's phone ban after 9k messages a night

A SCHOOL has decided to ban smartphones for pupils after one received 9,000 messages in a single night on a WhatsApp group.

Previously, children had been allowed to bring phones to 418-pupil Blackhorse Primary School, near Bristol, but had to hand them in during lesson time.

However, on one occasion a phone was accidentally left in a teacher’s cupboard overnight.

It was returned to the pupil the next day with 9,000 notifications on it.
