Push for total ban on smacking

LEADING children's doctors say smacking is a "Victorian" punishment that harms their health and should be consigned to the history books.
The Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health is backing a ban through an amendment to the Children's Wellbeing and Schools Bill.
According to the Children Act 2004, it is unlawful to hit your child except as "reasonable punishment", judged on a case-by-case basis.
