Pow hero's collection of medals to fetch £4k

A COLLECTION of rare medals belonging to a war hero who was captured by the Germans is set to fetch thousands.
Major Harold Henry Merton served in both world wars and earned one of the highest military awards for gallantry for his service during the fall of France. But he knew nothing about his Distinguished Service Order after he was captured following the British surrender at Saint-Valery-en-Caux on June 12, 1940.
