Poppies across the ages

Little flower girl and war hero join forces for Appeal

THEY may be separated by several generations, but Maisie Mead, 12, and war veteran John Roberts, 99, are united in their support of the Royal British Legion's Poppy Appeal.

And yesterday they paired up, proudly pinned on their new-style, plastic-free poppies - and urged everybody else to do the same.

They were at the Legion's poppy making factory, where 32 million paper flowers are being made ahead of this year's Remembrance Sunday commemorations, on November 12.
