Guardiola backs 'extraordinary' City talent Foden to get form back

PEP GUARDIOLA has backed Phil Foden to recover from a mediocre 2024-25 campaign and show his “extraordinary” qualities for Manchester City this season.

Foden was the cornerstone of City’s most recent Premier League title triumph, scoring 19 goals in 35 appearances to ensure Arsenal were pipped at the post.

However, the England forward netted just seven times last term as Guardiola’s side finished third and failed to collect silverware for the first time since 2016-17.

But after being sidelined for the opening-day victory against Wolves with an ankle problem, Foden, 25, is poised to return against Thomas Frank’s Tottenham today — and his manager expects to see the best of him.
