PATIENTS are suffering for longer because of cancelled operations due to a lack of anaesthetists, the Government has been warned.
A survey of clinical leaders who manage anaesthetic departments found nine in 10 reported surgeries had to be delayed due to shortages, with 43% saying this happens on a daily or weekly basis.
There were 6.26 million people waiting for 7.41 million NHS’ operations, procedures or appointments in England in August.
