Palliative care service 'under major strain'

PALLIATIVE care services in England can "fail to meet people's needs", a report has claimed.

"Insufficient funds" were said to be available to the sector that gives end-of-life care and support for those with life-limiting conditions.

The report, commissioned by MPs on the Commons' health and social care committee, found that bereavement support was "valuable but frequently inaccessible" and it said palliative care patients and families were "too rarely given the opportunity to plan effectively for the future".
