- By Eleanor Burleigh

Mala Pawar, a British citizen with family in India, said long wait times mean she has no choice but to go to Asia to access medical treatment for an injury.

The 63-year-old blames a lack of government action and the growing population of Wembley, North London, where she runs the Abaci Collection clothing shop near a 400-room Holiday Inn currently housing asylum seekers.

She said: “NHS services are deteriorating fast. I don’t blame the staff, I blame the Government, and the number of people [using the NHS] which is increasing by the day.

Entitled

“If I have a pressing injury, I’ll try to book an appointment here, but it’s always a very long wait. It'll be weeks before someone sees me.”

I won an Oscar but lost my waistline...

JAMIE Lee Curtis is a morning person. “It’s my nature,” she says cheerfully when we meet by Zoom. It’s a respectable 10am in Los Angeles but Jamie has already been up for hours. “I was out late last night at an event honouring women in film, so I got very little sleep,” she admits. “But I was up and awake at about 3.30am or 4am this morning. I wake up this way every day - optimistic and energetic.”
