Migrants total sets record for year start

THE number of migrants arriving after crossing the Channel has hit a record level for the first four months of the year.

There have been 8,064 in 2025, including 656 on Saturday, provisional Home Office figures have revealed.

This is already higher than the 7,567 people who crossed the Channel from January to April in 2024 while 5,946 arrived in the first four months of 2023 and 6,691 came during that period in 2022.
