Verstappen races to record at Ferrari home

THERE was only one man making history at Monza despite a Ferrari battle for the ages at their spiritual home.

The 80,000 crowd had poured into the famous old circuit praying that pole sitter Carlos Sainz or even Prancing Horse team-mate Charles Leclerc could finally put the brakes on Max Verstappen.

But once the Dutchman had pulled out of Sainz's slip stream around the outside of the Curva Grande, there was only going to be one outcome a record 10th consecutive win for Verstappen, who was followed home by Red Bull team-mate Sergio Perez. At least there was a Ferrari man on the podium after an epic day's work by Sainz.
