A MACHETE-wielding man who killed his son and injured his wife has been shot dead by police.

Officers responded to reports of an armed man at an address on Tenerife at 1am yesterday, when one of them was attacked too. Civil Guard officers fired shots, killing the assailant instantly.

The mother of the 10-year-old boy who was killed is in a critical condition in hospital with severe wounds to her arms and legs.
