‘Lisbon Lion' the pride of Celtic

CELTIC legend John Clark was a member of the team which won the European Cup in 1967. Nicknamed the Lisbon Lions, it was the first time a British club had ever won it.

His relationship with his beloved Celtic spanned eight decades, first as a player from 1958 to 1971, then having spells as a coach, assistant manager and finally their kit man.

Young players arriving at Celtic were impressed to learn that the man in charge of their boots was also the owner of a European Cup winner's medal.

Clark won six league titles, five League Cups, three Scottish Cups and the European Cup (where Celtic beat Inter Milan 2-1 in Lisbon) during his time at the club.
